SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE BELOW THE CUT
Half-naked women for most of the film and they weren’t sexualized ONCE.
No sexualized violence. NONE!
Disabled female protagonist played by an actress to whom Hollywood has started giving “evil queen” roles.
Tom Hardy is probably the most exploited of the cast? In the first 30 minutes he is kidnapped, chained up multiple times, forcibly shaved, forcibly tattooed, stripped, gagged until he’s bleeding, treated as a medical blood bag, put in a no-biting mask, and chained up as a hood ornament. His main goal at first is to get the gimp mask off his face. I’m not even kidding.
The action was really fucking good and I DID NOT LOSE SIGHT OF WHAT WAS GOING ON NOT FOR ONE MOMENT. NO SHAKY CAM BULLSHIT. NO EXTREME CLOSEUPS. I ALWAYS KNEW WHO WAS WHERE AND WHAT WAS GOING ON. ALWAYS. PRAISE BE TO THE GODS, FINALLY, AN ACTION FILM WHERE I CAN SEE WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING.
I’m so pleased. So happy. I had heard it was good. I hadn’t dared to hope it would be a amazingly good as people said. I was so nervous, because when I got to the theater the place was PACKED with men. So much testosterone in that theater. Some other women but we were VERY MUCH in the minority, which was a bizarre feeling for me, I’ve never been to a movie before where women were so outnumbered.
And then the movie was so good. So goddamn good. And I’m SO HAPPY.
I laughed some times when nobody else did, not sure if I was supposed to or not, but whatever, a recently blinded man shooting two machine guns into the air and screaming how he’s death destroyer of worlds is so over the top how can you NOT laugh? Or when said guy in a previous scene pulled out one of his teeth to use as a bullet?
I HAVE READ THAT MOST OF THE EFFECTS WERE PRACTICAL! 80%! ALL THE VEHICLES ARE DRIVABLE AND REAL! OMG OMG OMG! REAL EXPLOSIONS! REAL CARS CRASHING! SO BEAUTIFUL!!!
Old lady biker gang. Of badass old ladies who did all their own stunts WOW.
I’m so HAPPY. Just ... wow. So fantastic.
