What aunt_zelda Thinks: Captain America: Winter Soldier
It was GREAT! Go see it now!
Seriously. It was lots of fun, and had great action, and the characters were lovely, and NO WOMEN IN BIKINIS/UNDERWEAR/BIRTHDAY SUITS, and NO AWKWARD ROMANTIC PLOT POINT, and really good set pieces and tense scenes and lots of history and they did so MUCH and it was just really really great.
Basically, Steve and Natasha are buddy cops in a buddy cop movie with superpowers. And it's glorious. So go see it.
I wanna see it again, not because there's some big twist or anything, but because it was just so GOOD and I had so much FUN.
Also, TWO after credits scenes, just so ya'll know!

I went with my boyfriend, on a date-date. (As opposed to our normal 'dates' which consist of cuddling, watching lots of tv on my bed, and me making two radically different dinners because my domestic side shows itself at the weirdest times.)
We had to sit pretty close to the front because I forgot my glasses (fortunately my far vision isn't that awful, I missed some super shiny high definition but I could make out what was going on and had no eye strain, so that's good.) We laughed so hard at the TMNT trailer (mostly I laughed and he was shocked) and I clung to him and squeed about the X-Men Days of Future Past trailer.
I now ship Natasha/Steve/Sam and ya'll can't stop me. OT3! OT3! OT3! NEW FAVORITE SHIP. I LOVE THIS SHIP SO MUCH I ALMOST FORGOT ABOUT THE STEVE/BUCKY I WAS SO EXCITED FOR!

Seriously Sam is my favorite character ever. Just ... I love him now. And him in those WINGS ... guys I think I'm in love. I loved him so much and I hope there's a badjillion fics of him online by now otherwise I will have to bust some heads.
I cried so hard over Peggy, guys. I just cried that whole scene.
Brilliant casting of Emily VanCamp. I didn't trust her from the first minute, because Revenge (a show in which she essentially plays Edmond Dantes.) She wasn't in the movie much, but I liked her a lot and I can't wait to see more of her in future movies.
I really liked the world building they did, I loved that museum exhibit, because that is SO something that'd happen in the real world.
I squealed into my hands every time Winter Soldier was onscreen. And clung to my boyfriend. I don't know why. Also I think I'm excited by his robotic arm and I don't know if that's a healthy kink or not.
I just REALLY LOVE THE WINTER SOLDIER, ok? Characters like Winter Soldier, Sebastian Moran, and Jared Kincaid are this like type that I love for some reason, I don't know why, I just really love that kind of character and it's bizarre because in real life, that type I avoid because dangerous and scary and guns.
I loved them going to the old camp and going into the bunker and excuse me I just want a Peggy Carter movie RIGHT THE HELL NOW, I want it this summer ok, I don't care if that makes no sense, I just want it NOW. All that stuff seemed like they were priming us for a Peggy Carter movie. Well, I want it. So gimme, Marvel.
There is a completely necessary scene of Sebastian Stan shirtless and writhing around in metal bondage straps. Mmmmmmm. Thank you, Marvel. : D
Even though it was the second weekend, there was audible cheering and clapping and yelling of joy/triumph for certain moments in this film. And a LOT of laughs. This movie was funny.
I just couldn't believe that they'd kill Nick Fury off. I was in denial for most of the movie, and then he was alive YAY OMG and everyone in the theater cheered and I was so relieved.
Awwwwwwww, Steve pulling that "I'm not gonna fight you, you're my friend, even if you are brainwashed by evil, so I trust that you won't hurt me, look at this puppy face, this puppy face loves you" and then Bucky gets all confused and can't kill Steve and my heart is just melting because THESE TWO. (Can we talk about the flashback scene where Bucky offers to make a pillow fort with Steve and let him live in his apartment after his mom dies? Because awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww I can't even handle this, it's too cute.) Steve's all "You're my friend!" and Bucky's all "You're my mission!" and I'm all "*mimes squishing you two together to kiss*"
AND THEN BUCKY DRAGS STEVE OUT OF THE WATER AND STUPIDLY DOES NOT KISS HIM AWAKE AND THEN LEAVES TO BE ANGSTY AND ALONE. AND I CRIED AND WAS SO HAPPY. BECAUSE I KNOW THERE'S GONNA BE SO MUCH PORN ON AO3 FOR THESE TWO. : DDDDDDDDDD
The action scenes were all REALLY GOOD. SO MANY THINGS. THINGS HAPPENING. HAND TO HAND COMBAT. GUNS. TEAMWORK. I LOVE THIS MOVIE.
I'm a little concerned about the ramifications of S.H.I.E.L.D. being destroyed and H.Y.D.R.A. being everywhere and the X-Men crossing over somehow (I'm really confused, but at least I recognized Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch and knew they're Magneto's kids, my boyfriend didn't know that) because that's ... a lot. And the Marvel movies have that awkward thing where all the actors appearing together is difficult so somewhere in like Moscow Hawkeye is in Deep Cover and has no idea that Natasha was being hunted for days and now S.H.I.E.L.D. is destroyed.
Natasha was excellent in this movie and I'm so happy. Just ... every second she's onscreen basically I was so happy.
I hope she teams up with Steve and Sam and they go save Steve's coming-off-of-being-brainwashed boyfriend.
Next movie is gonna be all those fanfics I've already read, so I'm excited! :DDDDDDDDDD
Basically this show was great but ... I wanna see it again, not because there's surprises, because I had so much fun. But there really aren't any surprises. Bucky is Winter Solider, everyone and their mom knew that going in. That guy you think is gonna be the bad guy in the end? That's totally the bad guy, they don't even pretend otherwise. You think "oh, no way would they kill Nick Fury!" ... and you're right.
But that's not a bad thing. There's no contrived twists. That's refreshing.
Also, apparently hoodies make you invisible? In my experience they make security guards look at you even more suspiciously, because they think you're gonna steal things while your face is obscured.
Also, what's written on Fury's tombstone: I laughed so hard.
