Cosplay List Part 1
Was thinking of cosplays at work today. Decided to go through my ideas with pros and cons.
Ahim de Famille
Pros: comfortable outfit, no sewing involved, one of my favorite characters.
Cons: obscure, requires wig, requires pink, requires Ugg boots, might be a little racist, do not have 4-5 people going as the rest of the team.
Companion Cube
Pros: easily recognizable, geek icon, something from one of the few video games I'm familiar with.
Cons: requires pink, probably requires sewing, requires new shoes or for me to spray paint current shoes bright silver.
Fem!Turbo Lover
Pros: already have a suitable hat, easily obtainable components, my hair would be perfect, simple makeup job.
Cons: a lot of people won't get it, I might not have the confidence for the swag required, and (if The Protomen are playing at MAGFest) trying to seduce someone while dressed like them is the height of fan creepiness. Unless he's into that sort of thing ... I have no idea but I wouldn't risk it because of my outfit. I suppose I could just change for the concert.
Chell
Pros: ORANGE (my very favorite color), orange jumpsuit easily acquirable, very recognizable, from one of the few video games I'm familiar with.
Cons: I don't have her dark hair, costume requires some sewing, strange footwear, I cannot construct a suitable portal gun I'd be proud to carry around, not sure I'd be comfortable walking around in a jumpsuit all day.
Roll
Pros: I have the hair, the costume is pretty easy to assemble.
Cons: she has several different costumes to choose from, very cutesy … maybe too cutesy for me, people still might not know who I'm dressed as.
Fem!Protoman
Pros: very recognizable, pretty damn awesome.
Cons: very difficult costume to assemble, requires a helmet I'd have to shlep on and off the train and wear all day, I'd want to make the Hope Rides Alone shield and how on earth would I transport that?
Daniel, from Amnesia: The Dark Descent
Pros: decently recognizable, easy enough to assemble, requires one small prop (lantern.)
Cons: all the fanart has Daniel as a brunette and my hair is still clinging to blonde-ness.
In conclusion:
Companion Cube, Fem!Turbo Lover, Chell, and Daniel are on the list. Roll is my failsafe.
Will keep Fem!Protoman in reserve. I'd love to do that but I'm not sure I have the ability to give that the badass treatment it deserves. Then again, I do have months to prepare …
I just wanna come up with something clever and cool that'll make people take a second look at me once in a while, nothing too crazy but something I clearly put a lot of thought into. *sigh* I'll get there. Hopefully. The list will grow. Then be whittled down.
