I mean, they should ALWAYS be careful, and use protection and all that, but girls have the danger of getting pregnant and seem to have a higher chance of being taken advantage of. In slash, the two people are either on roughly the same level, or ridiculously different, ergo more room for equalizing.
Of course, I over analyze these things. I personally prefer fics where they use protection, but there's so few that I usually don't have a choice.

No, no I see what you mean. Plus guys don't have to worry about getting pregnant, unless their some kind of half-seahorse or something, lol. Well that, and there is also stuff that people use as excuses/reasons to do mpreg like being demon or half demon (like with Inuyasha--there is a lot of mpreg fic in that fandom! Or at least when it comes to Inuyasha/Sesshomaru and Inuyasha/Koga lol) or being a wizard and able to do, well, magical things (like with Harry Potter. =P)
