I knew that society, as a whole, is very shallow and vapid when it comes to appearance, but I didn't think it would be quite as stupid as strip away a teenager's beauty pageant crown because she is no longer blond. I mean, I get that as a winner you are required and obligated to perform certain duties and make appearances at places over the course of your reign - my little sisters participated in pageants throughout their primary years so I know how the system works. But to admonish a young woman for daring to change her hair color and effectively telling them that they 'would not go far in this world ' because of it...well. I 'd be thinking the same thing Olivia O'Neil thought: That maybe pageant life wasn't for me. (
