Seth Melton. WARREN, Mich. -- After four decades, Universal Mall met the wrecking ball Monday morning.
The destruction of Mervyns and Montgomery Ward stores will make way for the construction of a new $12 million mall, featuring a Target store.
Universal Mall was one of the first suburban malls built in Michigan.
It's located on Dequindre and 12 Mile roads in Warren.
