What is it about Auron and Lulu --the characters or the couple that attract you? What do they posses or do that draws you to them?

Like muggy_mountain I am moved by Auron's selfless honor, love and loyalty to friends. His moral integrity is so strong that it overcame death itself and kept him whole for ten years until he could fulfill promises and release Jecht from torment. Auron embodies nobility.
I have a fondness for tragic figures. Auron's "I tried to change the world, but I changed nothing. That is my story," is a rare expression of his inner sorrow that tugs the heart. In fact, Auron shortchanges himself. He guides those who do change the world, giving up his life and more for their sakes ( ... )

Now, Lulu. Sometimes I think I adore her even more than Auron, which is rare among fans. That, or it's just easier to identify with her.
I love strong, fierce, dangerous, intelligent, mature, professional, self-sufficient female characters who can not only handle themselves with expertise and wisdom, but also protect and guide others.
My favorite aspect of Lulu's character is the way she guards Yuna with the same fierce loyalty Auron shows to Braska. Of course, one could say that of Wakka, Tidus, and Rikku too, but I see an unspoken bond between Lulu and Yuna (somewhat akin to the one between Kimahri and Yuna) which reminds me nostalgically of the sisterly bonding in my undergraduate college (same one owlmoose attended). On the one hand, Lulu scolds and teaches ("You did very well... but no tears next time, hmm?") and treats strangers encroaching on Yuna in any way with scorn and suspicion. On the other hand, she stands behind Yuna and doesn't stifle her, allowing her the dignity of her choices. After digging into Lulu's backstory, I ( ... )
