Voter Suppression

"We will have a list of foreclosed homes and will make sure people aren't voting from those addresses."
Republican Party Chairman James Carabelli, Macomb County (Michigan)

Yes, in at least one county in Michigan, if you have your home foreclosed, your vote will be challenged. And Michigan does have quite a few foreclosures.

But that isn't all.

In Virginia, there was a voter-registration drive at Virginia Tech. The local registrar of elections issued two releases incorrectly suggesting that students could lose scholarships, coverage of their parents car and health insurance, and no longer be claimed as dependents if they registered to vote in that county, rather than wherever they are from.

And in Mississippi, the governor and secretary of state have decided to place the race for the United States Senate at the bottom of the ballot, in hopes it will be overlooked. This may be in violation of state law.

Editorialism time. The middle one, of Virginia, does not seem to be a dirty Republican trick to me. College towns and counties are often trying to suppress college students from registering to vote, because they are worried of how it may shake up local elections. So they often find lies to spread to colleges so the students don't register.
