How did you not know he was a Scotch hound?!

I think my only exposure to Sol's good taste in alcohol was in Ill Met! And I'm local too.

We obviously don't drink enough.

I think my exposure to his scotching was originally Ill Met, but he's among those I can recall waxing poetically about the merits of different scotches. I'm not a scotch drinker, so it may have stood out for me as I was always on the outside of it wishing I was tough enough to drink scotch.

Having now had real good scotch, well... I'd be a scotch drinker, but I need that money to travel with instead.

OMG, I had a good one last weekend.

He's the one who provoked me into making single malt ice cream. With Talisker, as it happens. And lo, it was good!

That sounds divine! I had a dessert at the Three Chimneys with a whisky-cream sauce using Talisker. That worked well, too ;) I hear whisky and chocolate are good pairs as well. Makes me tempted to try a whisky chocolate cake of some sort.

my idea of a dessert to pair with the Talisker ice cream was caramel bread pudding. still need to make that some day...

I don't know if I could be much help making either, but I would gladly help defray the costs for a sample of the end product. :)

The tour, sadly, was full the moment I rounded the stairs to the register. Sigh. But they let me taste the 10-year (had had it before) and I got a wee nip of the 18 year Talisker. They don't export hardly any of that. It was like they kicked up the 10-year a notch in the sweet-carmelly department and just slightly smoothed out the harshness. I quite liked it ( ... )

There's an 18 year Talisker?!? Which isn't exported? Sigh....

They had a few versions:
10 Year (exported)
18 Year
1993 Distiller's Edition
25 Year
30 Year

I found several for sale at:

Yes, yes I'm an enabler.
