oh my christ, sigur ros was ridiculous. the strathmore was ridiculous. the whole thing, shit man. ( ) 1, 4, last song, agaetis -- vidrar, avalon, ny batteri, title track.... and hoppipola and the new track they released... ( )1, avalon, agaetis were my favorites... and the last track of ( ) -- HOLY SHIT. that was their encore/last song, they did the last half of it from behind a screen and just built it and blasted it, surreal. i don't think the experience of them live can be duplicated by seeing any other band, it's subjection to unadulterated beauty, like i don't think i can look at art for a while just because it was so goddamn beautiful... ( )1 was really spectacular... magnificent... they are wonderful.
AND we got to go in mattie d's blue jetta. AND oren came! ANDANDAND on the ride there, we were rounding a bend in the highway and there over the trees was the DC MORMON TEMPLE!!! that thing is like something out of wizard of oz! magnificent! most of you have probably seen it so you know what i'm talking about... it's eerie, really truly. and from the distance you can hardly make out the middle parts of the spires so you just see it rising, hazing out, and then the golden angel moroni floating on top. yikes. on the ride home we were listening to interpol bright lights, oren and i were smoking cigs in the back, windows down, stars out, obstacle 1 was on and we just stared at the mormon temple. really cool moment haha.
we went to paper moon afterwards, this totally crazy 24 hour diner with plastic babies on the ceiling and mannequins and scary things from bad trips. i got warm apple pie à la mode, which was perfect, and mattie d and will discussed crazy aspects of indie rock and post-rock and composition while oren and i just shook our heads at each other from across the table. amusing, a fun crowd. it was awesome to be around people who like my music again (i'm kind of starved for it here at school, except for sharon), it just felt right to be talking about those kinds of things.
BEDTIME! first real day of classes tomorrow, 4 hours of them. shoot meeee. but at least i dropped my thursday class so i have thurs/fridays off again :D everyone go listen to sigur ros!! ok nite.
