CAR FOR SALE

1995 Ford Taurus, AC, radio in great condition, comfortable car, missing rear bumper, but that gives the car character. New air bags, new battery 11/2003, clean, huge trunk that could probably fit at least 5 dead bodies (or live ones, if that's your thing). Sad to see it go, but can't have 3 cars on insurance. Selling it for $550, ( Read more... )

because you are my friend I shall let you know that you might be better off looking at other cars unless you know a mechanic. The car is in relatively decent shape except for the fact that she is a tempremental bitch who only starts when she feels like it. I left it at my parents' house overnight on the 2nd. On the 3rd when I went to pick it up, it didn't start, so my dad put on the jumper cables, but it had to chrage a while before it would start. Once it charged, it started fine. So I got it home and once I turned it off it wouldn't start again. Well, this Sunday I went out to clean out the car, and I noticed that all the lights came on when I opened the door, so the battery is fine. So I decided to see if it would start and it started fine. So I'm not really sure what is wrong with it. My mechanic friend said it's either the alternator or a bad connection somewhere. If you are still interested in it, I can have him come over and seriously look at it and tell me what is wrong with it and if it's an easy fix, then you are welcome to the car, but if it's going to be something complicated and expensive, I would feel really bad selling it to you because I don't want you stuck with two dead cars in a parking lot.

So let me have John - my mechanic friend - over to look at it and I'll let you know what his diagnosis is.

Other than the not starting thing here are some specifics:
1995 Ford Taurus, 4 door, V6, about 155K miles on it, been in three accidents - in Feb 1997 the front end was smashed in, and since I just have liability I didn't get it fixed, but I did replace all the lights and the radiator was replaced in 2001; in July 1998 or 1999 my little brother decided to take out the neighbors fence with the front end so now I have matching dents on either side of the front bumper. Some one rear ended me in a parking lot and smashed most of my rear bumper so we pulled the whole thing off - I kind of think it gives the car a little character with the black spikes on the back; On the inside, on the driver's side of the windshield there is some molding missing, but once again, I think it gives the car character. The clock doesn't work, but the radio, AC, and cruise control all work great. It accelerates really well (sometimes too well because I have a little speed problem); the brakes squeak sometimes, but they work really well.

All in all, it is a really good car and I will miss her, it's a really comfotable car and rides pretty well. The engine is a little noisy, but I don't notice it anymore, just when new people get in the car who aren't used to it, they notice it.

So if you are still interested (despite her character flaws) then let me know and I'll let you know what John says about her recent lapse in starting.

The starting problem sounds like whats wrong with my car. My dad is supposed to fix the starter once the rain stops, but let me know what your friend says!
