Man I have been fairly crap at keeping up with the flist recently--I read a lot of what you guys write on my phone when I'm walking everywhere but I hate typing lj comments on it so I always end up thinking "I really need to reply to this when I'm on a laptop with decent internet connection," but by the time I get to laptop with decent internet

Still, I don't want these Vets and people involved in the whole operation for the past nine years to get scapegoated like what happened during/after Vietnam. Some people call bullshit on the whole "fog of war" thing, but until you're in that situation, you cannot and will not ever know how you, and the sanctioned-government training you've recieved, will react.

this. i think this exactly sums up how i feel about this leak in a far more articulate manner than i could ever manage.

as for the "how the hell did this leak" part--didn't a lot of the information come from the soldier who was sneaking out information on a supposedly lady gaga cd? i'm really interested in knowing what gave him the motivation to do it--if he really wasn't getting support from the people around him and he didn't care about the fallout for them or if it was a sacrifice he made and another message he was trying to convey by leaking so much stuff.

(also, this fic has turned into a long and elaborate exercise of "how much ust can i fit into one fic in between the plot?" >_>)
