My Thanks
I'd like to take a moment to thank Jan and everyone involved in this community for a terrific month. august_writing could not have come up at better time for me. I've met some wonderful folks here who would otherwise not have crossed my path and my life would be poorer for it.
On July 22nd my wife and I separated after fourteen years of marriage, sixteen years together. it was rosy1 who suggested I throw my hat into the ring. I'm glad I did. Thanks BTW, Rosy. Being compelled to write something, anything, every day helped a great deal. It required focus and clarity and that I not simply wallow in grief. I've been involved in a number of writing communities over the past 20 years but this one has been among the most gracious and encouraging I've come across.
I wish I'd had time to read more and comment more but there were days when it was all I could do to log in and post my piece.
Over the next few days I'll be collecting all my August writings (some of which were composed directly into posts) and using them as fertile grounds for works planted in September.
I'll keep my eye on this place. I had a good time here. If people are still posting as of tomorrow I'll do the same.
