Sometime around 1995 I was inspired by the idea of writing a fantasy novel with the working title of "The Hollow Man". This was one of the first scenes that came to me and was to take place somewhere near the middle of the book.

Interesting :o So is she a monk, or something else though! I wanna know!

She's something altogether different. I haven't even decided if the Tarkhalion monks even really exist in this world. On the one hand its fun to have them just be legends, and on the other hand I'm tempted to write a scene where Jasta meets one.

That is kind of what I figured. Removing oe's flesh, or what have you, doesn't sem like a particularly monk-like thing to do :)

Anyway, you could have Jasta meet someone who *says* they are a Tarkhalion monk.... That doesn't mean they actually have to exist ;)

Possibilities:

- Jasta is meditating herself into invisibility.
- Jasta has left her skeleton behind, making it easier to slip through cracks and float on the breeze

Just possibilities, mind.

The second one is quite close. Jasta's people don't normally *have* skeletons but she borrowed one that wasn't being used any more so she could better pretend to be human.
