Walking past an excited church goers leaving service, Buffy fingers her cross and wonders how it works. She doesn’t believe in their Christian God. She can't remember the last she was in church for non-wedding, non-demony reasons. She doesn't even do Easter or Christmas. She believes something greater than herself, something not-The Powers That Be (hopefully, please) is out there because she fights demons down here, but why that something only works with a Christian cross sometimes gives her pause. Because if it's based on belief, and she has none, then who's standing behind this cross saving her every night?
