Percy had looked up at the knock on his office door, and when the interrogator had passed along Carrow's instructions, Percy nodded. He asked the man why he had not been given more notice so that he could prepare better for the 'interview', and was told that it was all done on rather short notice.

I wonder if Kingsley knows, he thought as he stood up from the desk. If he doesn't, he needs to know.

Percy rushed down to the records department to fetch Bole's permanent file, then rode the lift back up to the floor housing the Auror's Department as well as the interrogators' rooms. Instead of going straight to Carrow, however, he strode into the Auror's Department and to the secretary at the main desk.

"Mister Carrow requires information on Auror Bole for an impromptu interrogation," he demanded in his staunchest voice, sounding as if he were angered by the necessity of being there. "I have her file from Records, but I need to know if you have anything on file that has not yet made its way down there. And I need it immediatelyThe ( ... )

Aggie sat in silence for what must have been record time as Carrow got himself settled into one of the three seats behind a table that faced her. He was soon joined by a woman with a hawkish expression that seemed to pierce into her who sat down next to him. They waited several more minutes until the red-haired weasel arrived, carrying a file with her name upon it which was immediately handed over to Carrow.

This is really happening, isn't it, she pondered as the last of the threesome took his seat and settled in with a quill and parchment. Just concentrate on what they ask, you haven't done anything wrong. There's no way they could possibly know about your secret, no way at all.

Amycus exchanged a glance with Madam Torq. They had discussed Bole's eventual interrogation, though being a lowly Auror-in-training, they had dallied in getting to it. Actual Aurors were far more important. The only useful information Bole was likely to have would concern Maclachlan.

Which could be very useful indeed. The little girl just needed to be shaken up a bit more.

Lazily, almost as if it were an afterthought, Amycus cast his Patronus into one corner of the room. Madam Torq cast hers toward the other corner and shortly, a panther and a large lizard were prowling the front of the interrogators' table.

Then the Dementors drifted into the room, arranged themselves mere feet away from Agatha Bole.

Aggie suddenly felt cold, a deep, bone-chilling cold that permeated her skin and set her to shivering. The feeling was unfortunately a familiar one, as she'd felt it the night she'd seen the signal flare above Eddie's building. Dementors.

She could see them come closer from the corners of her eyes, and her hand unconsciously gripped the hilt of her wand, as if one step closer would prompt her to call up her own Patronus.

They won't come at you unless you give the bastards a reason to do so, just remain calm. She wished she were anywhere but there... Yes, anywhere else. She gathered to her positive thoughts and memories to keep the chill at bay... and to power a Patronus should she need one.

Duncan, just think of Duncan. Keep him in your thoughts, and the rest will go away.

Amycus made a great show of opening Bole's file and examining the contents. Truthfully, there was little of interest. All of her reports were approved by Maclachlan before submission. As for Maclachlan's personnel reports regarding Bole... the man had abysmal handwriting.

No matter.

"Miss Bole." Amycus favored her with another smile. The girl was practically shivering in her seat. Splendid. "I do believe you forgot to check your wand at the door."

As if on cue, the door swung open and a guard entered, holding his hand out for the wand.

She eyed the gbuard's outheld hand as if it were a snake about to bite her. Hand over her wand? But it was her wand! A part of her! Her father had always taught her to keep it with her no matter what, that a witch without her wand was little different than a Muggle. And though her father held no ill will to Muggles, had in fact fallen in love with one, he had no wish to live like one either - and the same went for his daughter.

And yet here she was, given no choice but to hand her wand over to a stranger who bore her ill-will.

She reached into her robes, her fingers embracing the red padauk wood before finally drawing it out. Then, with great reluctance, she placed it in the man's palm. The sight of her wand in another's hand was almost enough to break her. She couldn't recall anything she and Duncan had faced that compared with this... interrogation. And it hadn't even truly begun yet.

She took a deep, steeling breath to regain her sanity. Calm down, head up, and don't let them get the best of you.

Agatha Bole looked as if she might vomit. Amycus rather hoped she would. It would be such a delightful thing to witness, this proud girl reduced to a shaking, bile covered mess.

"Now, Miss Bole." Amycus folded his hands. "You can start by telling us about your illegal murder of Fergus Grim."

She looked up at Carrow with a look of shock, panic... and guilt. They would have had to start with this, wouldn't they. Grim had been her first, and only, kill, and it had happened in the line of duty. And yet Aggie continued to feel a nagging guilt at the man's death and her own part in it. She knew she'd done nothing wrong, had only been protecting herself... but guilt didn't listen to logic.

"It wasn't illegal," she protested, her eyes watering despite her urging them otherwise. "MacLachlan and I were on a case. We were trying to find Fenrir Greyback and the children he'd taken. Grim attacked me. All I did was defend myself. It was an accident, I swear it was."

"You accidentally stabbed a man in the back with a shard of silver?" Amycus leaned forward, cold eyes piercing Agatha's watering ones. "I find that hard to believe, Miss Bole. That sounds like a very calculated act of maliciousness."

Madame Torq glared down at Agatha. "For that alone, we could have Kissed right now, so I suggest you explain yourself." She gestured slightly to the Dementors. "Immediately."

"I didn't stab him!" she cried out in her own defence. "It was a lantern that had fallen to the floor. He and I were fighting, he was trying to overpower me, and we were rolling over on one another. The next thing I knew, he stopped moving, and when I pushed him aside I saw that he'd landed on the shards. I didn't even know where the lantern had fallen."

She pulled her robes closer around herself, feeling the Dementors as if they were pressing in on her. Perhaps the mention of the word 'Kissed' had made them anxious. She hoped they would stay at bay, and that all of this would end soon. She'd even prefer being sacked to this bloody interrogation.

"Lying bitch!" Madam Torq screamed suddenly, pulling out her wand and pointing it at the girl. "Crucio!"

Amycus smiled in satisfaction. If this didn't loosen her tongue... then perhaps they could cut it out.

Aggie jolted when the spell hit her, sending her body into spasms of unbelievable pain. There was no thought, no feeling or sensation other than the torturous feeling of neverending pain.

Her writhing body fell from the chair, her head knocking against it as she went down. She continued squirming on the floor, as if she could evade the pain with every movement, waiting for it all to end.

Amycus glanced at Madam Torq. "Now now, Madam. We must give the girl a chance to defend herself against the allegations."

Madam Torq ended the spell. She was breathing heavily, beads of perspiration dotting her forehead. Amycus figured she was still smarting over her rather failed interrogation of Maclachlan, but no matter. They were just warming up now.

"Do pick yourself up, Miss Bole," Amycus said in bored tones. "Conduct yourself as a Ministry employee should."

Up until the word 'Crucio', the interrogation had been the same as any other, and Percy had only enough of his mind on the proceedings to write up the minutes while allowing the rest to wander. A single word had changed that, and Percy looked up from his notes to see the young woman wracked in pain and writhing on the floor.

He was frozen. Most of those that had come through this room were people that Percy, at most, had passed through in the Ministry halls. Agatha Bole, however, had been one year below him at school, and they'd been Prefects together. On occasion, they'd made the school rounds together, somehow managing an amicable tour despite the rivalry between their Houses.

They hadn't been friends, merely acquaintances and fellow Prefects, but even that made her more familiar to him than the rest of those that had come into this room. Furthermore, he couldn't remember ever actually witnessing a person suffering from Crucio before ( ... )

Aggie shakily got her hands under herself and lifted up into a seated position. She breathed heavily, trying to regain the breath that had been knocked from her by the spell. She looked up at the threesome - Carrow and his boredom, Torq and her overenthusiasm for pain, and Weasley with his lack of concern for the world outside of his little bubble - and mentally went over exactly what she wanted to do to them, each of them, and how painful it would be for them. You obviously have never messed with my family before, or else you'd know better than to attack me. My father would kill you if he found out... if I don't get you first!

She managed to finally stand on her trembling legs, if only long enough for her to make her way back onto the chair. She sat up with as much dignity as she could muster, crossed her legs, and clasped her shaking hands in her lap.

"What else do you need to know... Sir?" she asked steadily, steel in her voice. The crucio had not made her bend to their will, far from it. It had instead revived in her the ( ... )

"We are rather concerned with your assignment, Miss Bole," Amycus continued, as if nothing had just happened. "Most Aurors do not, in fact, murder people in cold blood while they're still in their training period."

Madam Torq twirled her wand between her fingers. "Quite frankly," she said, voice a bit breathless, "it concerns us, enough to seriously consider ending your employment with the Ministry. Perhaps you'd be better suited to a quiet job."
