Who: Daphne Greengrass and Theodore Nott
What: A cure for boredom
When: 15 November - around lunch
Where: The Slytherin Common Room
Status: Ongoing
One of Daphne's usual French novels lay forgotten in her lap as the Slytherin's eyes stared intently into the fire blazing in the common room fireplace. She had skipped lunch again to save herself the annoyance of all the noise. Which was good in that she had the common room to herself. But on the other hand, she had the common room to herself and was suddenly completely overcome by boredum. She had tried reading, but for some reason the words just didn't seem to want to flow the way they normally did. Homework was completely out of the question and it wasn't like she had any letters to write. The only letter she had gotten in the past week or so was the one from Ms. Lestrange Aunt Matilda. that letter had been replied to as soon as she had recieved it.
So, Daphne was stuck by herself yet again. She was really starting to loath the idea of being alone while everyone else was out doing... things. She knew, of course, that this time it was really her fault for wanting the quiet, but she was too proud to admit that, even to herself. She also knew that she could still go up there and join everyone, but she wasn't really sure she wanted to.
A hand reached up and wound a few strands of dark hair slowly around its fingers. The girl's dark eyes finally pulled themselves away from the orange fire and came to rest on the book in her lap. But instead of picking it up, Daphne merely sighed and sat back in her comfortable chair. She slid her eyes shut for a moment, listening to the silence. But she realized, that even when she was completely alone, there was still no such thing as complete silence. The fire crackled and popped, a cat somewhere in one of the dorms meowed... Maybe it would be best if she gave up on her quest for peace; there really didn't seem to be such a thing.
She closed her book quietly, sighing again. Daphne absolutely hated being bored. Right about now she would do anything for something that could actually hold her interest for even a few minutes...
