What: a meeting for lunch

It had not been very difficult for Draco to get out of the castle. He doubted that the rules about leaving even applied to him, anyway; would they really dock points from Slytherin or give him detention if he was required to leave in order to do an errand for the Dark Lord? Of course, this was nothing so grim, and he would not be returning with blood on his hands. His mother was coming to Hogsmeade, and he was going to meet her for lunch.
The walk was not normally a long one, but the rain made it seem that way. Draco had always despised rain, even more than snow; it liked to sneak under all his Impervius charms and give him an unruffled appearance, making him even colder at the same time. What's more, there was absolutely nothing pretty about it, except that when it was over, plants sometimes seemed more green. But he usually preferred to stay inside while it was actually raining, and if it hadn't been his mother that he was going to meet, he would have canceled in a second.
They chose a table inside, where it was warm. Draco caught her up on what had happened since he had last written - which wasn't much, since he had been writing daily - with the obvious exception of the attack by the Dumbledore impersonator, and questioned her as to how everything was going at home. Finally, when they had finished their food and the small talk had ceased, Draco thought he should ask the question that had been on his mind the last few days.
He had expected the school to be a bit of a shock to him, and he had expected to be slightly bored with schoolwork. What he had not expected was feeling completely useless, apathetic about grades, and nervous about everything that was going on outside of the castle walls when he wasn't there to see it - not even close enough to hear about it.
"Mother," he said carefully, "Do you think Father would be terribly disappointed if I didn't finish the school year?"
