Ernie had stayed till the very end to help boot out the last of the party-goers before the House Elves came in to clean up the armour room. Only once he'd been satisfied that all was well did he head back to his House, intent on a good night's sleep. He had spotted Megan asleep on the sofa immediately, but hadn't wished to wake her up, and after a soft kiss to her cheek, had left her to her slumber

Fuck! Ernie! Megan thought as she made her way out of the shadows.

"It's fine. He's here with me. Though, where he was before I woke up...your guess is as good as mine," she said calmly.

Zach looked at Megan, frowned. Judging by her expression, things could get decidedly interesting one way or another.

"We're just having a bit of a slumber party," Zach whispered into the darkness. "Though we haven't started painting each other's nails yet."

Ernie chuckled. "Well, I'm glad to hear Hannah and I won't need to be fishing you out of the bath anytime in the near future," he joked to hide his genuine relief. Zach had worried them all, and Ernie feared that the next time... He quickly pushed the thought to the back of his mind.

"A slumber party would sound fun if it weren't a school night, and we've got bloody Muggle Studies in the morning. I don't know about you, but I don't want to risk facing Podmore without a good night's sleep." He unconsciously rubbed at his eyes. "Anything interesting keeping you up? Or anything I need to take care of?"

No, I think you've done enough for this evening.

"Not really. I'd been sleeping on the couch by the fire and Zach accidently woke me up when he came in." It was a bold face lie, but Megan didn't really want to talk about what had really disturbed her from her slumber.

"I saw you there when I came in," Ernie replied with a fond smile, "but you looked so deep in sleep that I didn't want to wake you. You left too early, though - you missed Hannah deciding Michael deserved a birthday spanking and volunteering me for the job to get even for earlier. I was looking for you to offer you a chance to give him a few good swats."

He grinned over at Zach. "You missed a fun night, mate. Even had a couple of stragglers from Gryffindor I'd never met before."

"You what?" Megan asked, a hint of sharpness in her throat. "Why on earth do you think I'd want to spank Michael? I hardly even know the bloke."

She shook her head in frustration. "I'm glad to know I didn't miss much."
