Nov 03, 2007 13:36

Who: Michael Corner and Theodore Nott.
What: Theodore's tired of Michael avoiding him. Michael is forced to oblige during a walk in one of the few downpours in an otherwise improving day.
When: November 5th 1997. Sometime after classes.
Where: The Lake.
Status: Complete

He had missed every single class that day and walked what had to have accounted for miles within and outside of Hogwarts. He looked like a drowned rat- hair limp and dripping against his head. his white dress shirt was soaked through, though that was hardly immediately obvious considering his generally fair skintone. He had removed his tie and shoved it in his pocket, though some of the broad blue and grey striped cloth hung out.

Pansy had been right about one thing. Michael had been moping on the battlements long enough. And as much as he may have denied it, there had been the slightest moment standing on that battlement where he considered simply stepping off. It lasted a microsecond before Michael remembered that as much pain as he was in, this was a microsecond in the span of a Human life. A very short, Human life thus far.

The boy sneezed and sniffled, clenching his collar around him to trap nonexistent warmth beneath. His lie he would tell as to why he wasn't in class was going to self-fulfill itself. He was going to get sick.

The nonstop rollcoaster that he had been on the last few days had to end. He felt like he was going mad. He understood now what he had to do was the thing he most didn't want to. He had to confront Theodore.

"Why don't you love me?"

The voice called out to Theodore. It was desperate and hurt, yet also soft. Michael had intentionally sought him out, his keen understanding of the boy taking Michael to rest near the lake. Tears fell and melded with the downpour. He sneezed and looked at Theodore as rain dripped even from his eyelashes. He shivered but held steadfast.
