Aggie was bound and determined to put a smile on Duncan's face one way or another.
She had noticed the year before how his humour seemed to diminish on Hallowe'en, and now that she knew him better, she was able to see other little signs that this day was more depressing than pleasant for her partner. The worst, however, had been when Auror Hamlin, whose wife was a Muggle, had been talking about his excitement over taking his children out Trick or Treating...
The holiday was one that definitely belonged mostly to children and the precociousness of youth, and after seeing her partner's reaction to Hamlin's excitement, her heart had squeezed in sympathy. She knew of the basic facts of Duncan's history, about the deaths of his wife and children. She could only imagine how he had felt.
And thus she made it her mission to cheer him up, to do her duty as his partner - and friend - to take his mind off of any misery and return it to more pleasant matters. With the current climate and dangers around them, she needed him hale and whole in all manners.
She carried a bag which contained several bottles of beer and two bottles of wine, as well as an assortment of chocolates and pastries - all things that usually helped her when she was down in the dumps. Balancing it carefully on her hip, she reached out and knocked on the door.
