I'll bet this never happens to Gryffindors.

Who: Luna and OPEN
Where: all over Hogwarts
What: a search for the missing Bravery (after Luna receives an answer to this letter)
When: Wednesday September 17, evening (before curfew)
Status: Incomplete

Luna had almost forgotten that she had written to her father by the time his answer arrived, by morning post.

Dearest,

I do not believe that there have ever been any Patronuses known to take the form of Snorkacks before (although mine, of course, is a Nargle). However, I would advise you to search the castle, especially the dark corners and suits of armour-- emotional Snorkacks tend to like very private places with low visibility, it makes them feel safer.

Helena misses you as well-- she's taken to sleeping out under the moon, and says it reminds her of you. I think she's on to something, haven't I always said that you take after me? Feet on the ground and head in the clouds (or in your case, on the moon).

You must tell me more about this boyfriend of yours.

-Ferdinand Q. Lovegood

Luna smiled at the familiar writing, then carefully rolled up the parchment, sticking it behind her left ear (her wand was behind her right) before going to class.

As soon as class was over, she hurried back to Ravenclaw Tower to set down her bag so that she would make less noise and hopefully not startle Bravery when (she didn't let herself think if) she finally found him. Then she set off purposefully through the hallways, checking behind every door she could open.

horace slughorn, luna lovegood
