Well, firstly they don't quite consider the Hitachiins as... seperate. Because they are such a single unit they kinda consider all other sets of twis to be single units.

So yes, the Hitachiins are twins and that actually gives them a lot of points in Sakon's and Ukon's book. They get a sorta, not sympathy but yeah, can't find the right word, because of it. And are actually allowed more leeway with stuff than any not-twin would.

That said, twins find the Hitachiins defensless, prissy, annoying as hell and think they've got no sense of self-preservation whatsoever. On the other hand they do have a sorta one sided (possibly? not sure how the Hitachiins feel) understanding that twins should stick together. And when it's not directed at them Sakon and Ukon have appreciation for the sense of mischief they're getting from the Hitachiins. If only because it might be amusing to watch them get themselves into trouble.

Kaoru specifically... Sakon has a "fellow younger twin" empathy, almost. If the subject of older brothers came up... Sakon would be most likely to open up to Kaoru vs. anyone else. Because he believes Kaoru would understand.

And Ukon... has the older brother thing going on so he actually would identify more with Hikaru. However, if Hikaru was absent and there was something really, really, really good in it for him and Sakon, he might, might be willing to jump in and defend Kaoru a bit if he was being threatened in a way he couldn't handle. (which in Ukon's mind is a lot of things) But only if Kaoru asked first. Then he'd go and rip Hikaru's head off (probably not literally) for leaving his little brother alone.

Yeah... twins are actually the one's they'd be least likely to go through with the death threats if the twins told someone else.

... that was incoherent. Oops?
