So, I survived my first week as a working girl. I actually like taking the train downtown and being one of the mass of people that works down there. It's exciting and all grown-up like. Here's my daily schedule: leave my house at 6:15am. Catch 6:38 train from Pingree Rd. station in Crystal Lake. Arrive downtown at 7:55. Take ABN shuttle to 135 office. Work until 5. Walk the 10 blocks back to the train station. Catch 5:20 train home. I get home about 6:45. It's a long day and so far work has been slightly boring, but I'm still positive. I'm working for the Executive Vice President of Commercial Banking at LaSalle which is the largest bank in Chicagoland. So, basically, he's important and really high up and if he likes me, it will be an AMAZING recommendation for next year. I'm working on a project that he and his team designed and I'm the only one working on it so I get to decide how to do it and carry out all the steps myself. I will get to meet a lot of people within the bank as well. Hopefully it will be as worthwhile as I'm imagining it to be.
Oh, the downside... I have to wake up at 5:30 so my bed time is about 10 at night. Even earlier if there is time to go to bed earlier. Summer? I think not.
Today it was about 20 degrees cooler downtown than at home. Thank goodness or I'd be sweating buckets on my mile long walk.
Well, I don't have much else to say as work has been my life for the past 5 days. I think I'll finish unpacking my stuff from school.
P.S. Read the Kite Runner. I read it on the train this week. It's the only book that has ever made me cry and it did so several times.
