Burn Auggie, Burn

I do not suffer well for I have little experience with illness. A backache contorts my body in a position that would make Joseph Merrick cringe. A headache reduces me to a person who operating out of a bubble of pain. Today, I suffered from what appears to be
a slight case a of irritated sinuses.

All the conditions that aggravate this condition increase a thousand fold. Former smokers resume their habit upwind of me and a neighbor to the south has taken to
playing Paul Bunyan for the past couple hours, chopping away with an axe, and I believe resorting to the burning of wood.

"We live in a congested city block, my friend. If you seek the natural life, off you to the wilds of Idaho or at least Dayton. "

My silent plea has failed for the pungent aroma of charcoaled marshmallows billow into my backdoor like a London fog. Oh, I exaggerate to be sure. But forgive me, as
I know not how to endure a malady in a stoic manner.

I will confess that my recovery is no less insufferable. I am overly gregarious and one might expect me dance an awkward jig befitting a community theater performance
of Finian's Rainbow. Today, the pain came and went. Even I did not want my company.

Tomorrow, I will be well. It is the way of my world. I will be far too happy to for anyone's pleasure. Fortunately, it will be a day off from work and I alone will be victim of the smug victory dance.

I believe one of the cats just pulled a duffle bag down out of the closet...
