And that wasn't asthma. Well, not only asthma.
My inhaler wasn't working, and my asthma attack was only getting worse, so I ended up in the ER. Dad tried to convince me to call the squad, but I didn't want to "bother" the fellas. (For those who don't know, my father was a fire-fighter/paramedic/EMT for 30 years.) I'm never driving myself to the ER again. Almost passing out while driving is not a cool experience.
Anyway fan-fucking-tastic. I've had asthma for 22 goddamn years and never ended up in the ER for it.
So they gave me a nebulizer treatment, some anti-inflammitories, and then took a couple chest X-rays. Then they gave me another run with the nebulizer. The X-ray revealed that I have pneumonia.
< sarcasm > Woot!! < /sarcasm >
It turns out the pneumonia was making my asthma worse, which is why a couple puffs with my inhaler didn't work. The doctor sent me home with a stack of prescriptions and instructions to take it easy. Apparently pneumonia has been going around - surprisingly in younger people who aren't usually at risk for it. I've never had it before (though Weezle used to get it every damn year), and though I'm breathing better, I feel like total shit.
So I'ma go take a nap.
er,
pneumonia
