Somebody pinch me!

Today I got a Viking Designer I embroidery/sewing machine!

This machine has been on my "wishful thinking" list (one step removed from my "wishlist") for some time, but especially since I had a chance to test drive Lisa's while making myself this jacket earlier this fall. I never thought I'd be able to get one this soon; I'm still reeling ( Read more... )

I have that machine and I love mine! I'm so glad you were able to get it! I also got a barely used floor model (It had like an hour of run time on it. Foot pedal wasn't used).

A few years after I got it I asked for the embroidery software to go with it as a birthday gift. It's really frustrating to make your own designs though - well, I'm comparing this software to Adobe Illustrator which to me is easier to use!

One of my favorite little features is the presser foot. This seems to be the only machine on the market with some kind of sensor that helps feed through thick bunches of fabric without getting jammed up.

Happy Sewing!

Yes, that's the ESS--"exclusive sensor system". Lisa showed me where to look to see if I had that feature (I do!). Apparently a lot of Viking 1+ owners were upset when they upgraded to the original Designer because it couldn't handle metallic thread and so forth like the 1+; so they added the ESS.

I don't know why they don't go talk to the computer illustrator folks when they design software for other applications like sewing. It's like they re-invent the wheel, but instead of making it easier I think they make it harder! When I'm ready for software, I'll be asking you about it.
