Help for Wireless Stuffs
Hello you computery/technological/smarter than I people! I am stuck and I need help. Or opinions. Or.. Taco Bell. Mmm. Taco Bell.
Er.. anyway! OK. So I have a Nintendo DS, yes? And I've been wanting to get some of the WiFi games for it but I lack a wireless router. So I've been trying to decide between getting a wireless router (my budget would be no more than $70 probably.. the less money spent is always better, though) and that Nintendo WiFi USB ThingyWhatsit.
But. I also plan on getting a Nintendo Wii.. uh, sometime. Hopefully before Christmas. Maybe. If I'm lucky (I have to order through Amazon because they save me moneys and who knows how long it'll take me to snag an order from there/how long it'll take afore they can ship it out). But. I know I definitely want to be able to download VC games on that and such. Some people have told me that the Nintendo WiFi USB ThingyWhatsit will work with the Wii. Others have said it won't. Others have said that "WE CAN'T TELL YOU NUFFINK, BITCH" (Nintendo, I'm lookin' at you). So I am operating under the assumption that it will work. So, y'know, inform me if I'm wrong in that assumption.
So. I'd been considering the Nintendo USB Whatever Thing when I was thinking just about the DS 'cause it sounds fairly easy to get working (I have vivid memories of fighting with my parents' wireless router and a zillion calls to tech support and maybe there was crying and some blood) and most of the time I play my DS here in the den, so I'd be no more than 2 or 3 feet away. But. The Wii would be alla way out in the living room. By my estimations, about 33 to 35 feet away. On the other side of a wall (well.. sorta two walls, since part of the wall separating the den and living room is a closet). And I hear (aside from different sayings on if it will even work with the Wii) different things about just how good that USB Whatchamacallit is.
So I've been considering the wireless router.. but, as I mentioned, I hated trying to get my parents set up. I am lazy and I don't like when things don't work and I want something that sets up easy and I don't have to be configuring out the wazoo too much to get it working. Which is why I was considering the Nintendo WiFi FunkyMonkey Thing in the first place. But. I WANT the Wii to be set in the living room on my big(ger) and nicer TV, and not the cruddy 13-inch I have here in the den.
So. Which would y'all suggest? The router or the USB Wifi Whatchathinger? I don't care if I have to pay more for a router than the USB dealie if it would be the better choice.. but I wouldn't want it to, you know, demand my firstborn in exchange for wanting to set up at least semi-easily.
