"I hadn't even realized there was anything left in me to lose."

That's a great line--GOD I'm so glad you posted, and I have to say, your pacing in your other fics is fantastic--rather than taking great effort in repairing SM's, I trust that what you develop instinctively will rock.

BTW, I worked something like 17 hours a day for the last three days, and when I finally had a chance to sleep, I stayed awake for an extra hour so I could sit around and wait for Chapter 3 to come in.

Brava, baby.

Thank you! And LOL -- don't lose sleep ;) This one came out a little late today, my focus was really bad. We'll see how my instincts work out here, I'm having to keep my foot on the their respective necks in order to write this thing...

I knew you'd find a way to keep the imprint explanation from Bella for a while longer, since you (unlike Meyer) understand the meaning of suspense and that there's nothing more boring than instant declarations of eternal love at the beginning of what's supposed to be a love story.

I decided not to mention how I'd assumed a week ago that Laurent had probably slaughtered the wolves without effort--Jacob would surely take it as an insult

Another nice change from canon. Bella was always assuming the superiority of vampires in general and the Cullens specifically, and rarely seemed to take Jake's feelings about that into account.

Yeah, that always bugs the shit out of me as well. It's particularly a pitfall of imprint fics. Once the declaration happens, I'm left going, "Okay... now what?"

And after going line by line through Bella's New Moon shock that OMG the vampires will kill the wolves because nothing can kill vampires!!11!1!... yeah, I had to put in that line in order to throw a little spackle onto my sanity.

*HUGS* I don't think people tell you enough how awesome you are. I was having one of my many shitty days. Dreading going home. My mood just BLAH. Then I read the chapter and my day just brightened up. I didn't think I could smile much today, let alone laugh so hard.

While I liked how Bella bitch slapped Sam (my favorite line Give Jacob back to me right now) I love Jacob's reaction, how he seem to come out of his moodiness for a second.

Can I ask though? Why doesn't he want Bella to know? In the book, he had Bella guess and took the chance that he might accept him as is. I don't expect you to follow the book point by point (that concept ruined the movie for me a little, Stupid Team Edward producers) but I'm curious as to what is going through his mind in this chapter.

How I wish I had photoshop skills, because, believe me, we'd have a "You give Jacob back" meme right the hell now.

Awwwwww. Thank you :) *snorgle* I actually feel very, very loved around here, loads more than I probably deserve. (I think I get a lot of comments because I tend to blabber on when I reply to them, so it leads to chatting, and people like chatting. Which is good, because I like chatting too.) But I appreciate it nonetheless :)

Can I ask though? Why doesn't he want Bella to know?

Well, as for why he might react differently with regards to telling Bella the werewolf part... the stakes are a little higher if she freaked out and rejected him, given the imprint thing. And then as far as not wanting Bella to know the imprint... *whistles*

Two weeks ago, Jacob would've followed up an observation about my frozen body temperature by wrapping me into a warm, full hug, probably complete with a little line-blurring stroke of my hair. Now he wasn't so much as holding my hand. I didn't know what was up with this whole no contact thing, but I didn't like it at all; I'd become accustomed to Jacob's touch, and without it I felt... empty. Like there were whole new pieces to my being that had gone missing overnight.

I hadn't even realized there was anything left in me to lose.

Aw, I love your Jake and Bells and this paragraph was so lovely. Overall, though, I really enjoyed their interaction and found myself scrolling down and hoping I wasn't close to the end already. I know this endeavor is stressing you out a bit but I think you're doing an excellent job and I'm really enjoying your updates. :)

ETA: I almost forgot, this:
Jacob blew out an annoyed breath. "No, the point of The Matrix was for Keanu Reeves to blow things up and look badass. Work with me here, Bella, I'm not so ( ... )

Thank you :) It's mostly a good kind of stress. It's the kind of stress that comes from a serious challenge. Unfortunately, it's a challenge that isn't leading to the highest quality result, which is a little frustrating (the highest quality would be if I ditched Meyer!voice and went on my own way), but if I did that it wouldn't be as hard and therefore wouldn't be as much of a challenge and it goes round and round...

And glad you got a kick out of the line ;) I can never help but throw in some pop culture references.
