I kind of sucked at doing my list this past year, so I'm trying to make it more doable. I did about half, but I like to shoot for 70% or better. I also tried to make more of them things that are measurable, which usually makes it a little easier to do them, rather than generic "Be less _____" or "Do more ________" goals.
Anyways, here's the list!
1. Go to Disney World with Dan in August!
2. Visit Philadelphia for a day.
3. Move into a new apartment.
4. Try the Bikram yoga class at the yoga studio.
5. Lose 20 lbs. by June 1st, which is just a little bit more than 1lb./week.
6. Lose an additional 30lbs. by December 31, 2008 (Goal: 145).
7. Visit the Statue of Liberty and/or Ellis Island.
8. Get an 'S' on my Spring Observation.
9. Get a 4.0 for my Spring semester with Mercy College.
10. Submit my application to Teachers College Autism program.
11. Graduate from Mercy College.
12. Put in the paperwork for my salary differential.
13. Request a new Social Security Card.
14. Change the address on my driver's license.
15. Vote in the NY primary in February.
16. Save $750 by December 31, 2008.
17. Buy a used Playstation 2 and all the games that I used to love.
18. See Legally Blonde on Broadway.
19. Read 10 nonfiction books on various subjects: eat pray love, Unstrange Minds, The Secret, Raw Food Life Force Energy, Simple Prosperity, The Power of Now, A New Earth, Green for Life, Green Chic: Saving the Earth in Style, Bella Figura...
20. Pay off 3 of my 4 credit cards. (Paid off 2!)
21. Get my hair ever so slightly permed.
22. Clean out my music collection on iTunes.
23. Do not dye my hair.
24. Eat five fruits and vegetables a day.
25. Have a picnic at the Castle Gould on Long Island.
26. Spend the weekend at a beach.
27. Gamble in Atlantic City and break even minimally.
28. Write poetry at least once a week.
29. Read at least 5 real-literature authors
30. Build a bookshelf for all of my books in my apartment.
31. Run in a 5k race.
32. Wake up earlier (by 6:00AM) for breakfast/short exercise.
33. See The Decemberists/Colin Meloy in concert.
34. Visit the Coney Island Boardwalk before it changes way too much.
35. Send a care package to Kaitlin at Virginia Tech.
36. Use email to stay in better touch with my grandparents and aunt.
37. Get a Passport.
38. Remember to wash my face every night and every morning.
39. Eat at 10 new restaurants throughout Manhattan: Sangria, Vento, Maria Pia, The Tasting Room, Pure Food & Wine, Garage Restaurant, Gusto Organics, Agave, El Sombrero, the Diner @ Union Square
40. Paint and decorate Dan and my apartment pretty-pretty.
41. Complete my TNLI research paper by the due dates given.
42. Continue to take my multi-vitamin each day.
43. Drink at least 80 ounces of water each day.
44. Pack my lunch for school regularly.
45. Eat at least 4 green smoothies/week.
46. Get rollerblades!
47. Visit the Museum of Modern Art.
48. Visit the Guggenheim.
49. Visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
50. Go to a book signing.
51. Develop an organized, efficient data collection system to regularly track IEP and teacher-set goals throughout the day.
52. Use visual supports more frequently in my classroom.
53. Attend ALL the remaining Best Practices after school professional developments.
54. Buy a karaoke game for PS2.
55. Have brunch at a Jazz Club.
56. Treat myself to a pedicure/manicure at least once a month. Ew no, not after I read about all the chemicals --- change to: give myself a pedicure/manicure once a month with natural, organic products.
57. Try to do yoga at least once a week.
58. Walk at least 12,000 steps/day.
59. Do a resistance band/weights routine 2x/week.
60. Remove my navel ring.
61. Learn to use my new digital camera in manual mode.
62. Move in with Dan!
63. Return my books to the NYP Library and pay the fines.
64. Complete Rosetta Stone Level 1 Italian Course.
65. Get my allergies under control w/help of new allergist.
66. Have Jenny & Dave over for dinner and drinks.
67. When finding myself wasting time on the Internet (checking and re-checking sites), do schoolwork, go to yoga, or read a book instead.
68. Go to Madaline's bachelorette party, wherever it may be. (Postponed!)
69. Get a sunlamp.
70. Cook dinner at least 3x/week.
71. Watch the lunar eclipse.
72. See a meteor shower / falling star for the first time.
73. Take the ATS-W and CST for Students with Disabilities.
74. Keep a gratitute journal and write in it daily.
75. Get recertified in adult/infant/children CPR.
76. Exceed the minimum amount of protein needed in my diet each day.
77. Get super formal dressed up to go out with Dan.
78. Send holiday cards to everyone I love.
79. Close my Virginia checking account.
80. Get a 4.0 in my first semester at Hunter College.
No, my fucking 1-credit class asshole professors gave me an A-, which is apparently a high grade from them.
81. Hang out with my SBU buddies!
82. Treat myself to a Spa pedicure!
83. Get a new jewelry box so I stop losing my jewelry.
84. Paint our new apartment pretty, pretty colors.
85. Take Kinsey to the vet for an annual check-up.
86. Stop drinking soda!
87. Get an e-mail pen pal from another country.
88. Start my own website.
89. Attend to my creative side through writing, learning to draw, learning to paint, etc... for at least an hour every week!
90. Go bowling!
91. Have all of my students reach at least 75% of their IEP goals or goals that I have written by June 30.
92. Communicate more frequently with the parents of my students.
93. Organize the file systems on my computer and external hard drive.
94. Buy new bras to replace the unfitting ones that I have.
95. Buy 2 new sets of workout clothes.
96. Do my laundry every 2 weeks, instead of allowing it to pile up, and use the smaller machine.
97. Register for at least 2 professional developments run by D75 or other agencies.
98. Keep in touch with Kaitlin weekly via AIM, email, and other networking sites.
99. Write a short story.
100. Wear a bikini at the beach when I go to Disney World in August.
101. Learn deep breathing and visualization techniques for when feeling stressed, panicked, or overwhelmed.
102. Have dinner with Dad --- this used to be to write an unsent letter, but after dinner I realized that I've let go of a lot of that stuff ages and ages, and that writing a letter would release nothing. It's been done, gone, etc...
103. Take the train down to DC for an overnight or weekend trip.
104. Learn to make and bake a loaf of bread!
105. Create and follow a monthly budget!
106. Reduce my global footprint: buy at local farmer's markets, turn the lights off when not in use, take showers instead of baths, buy things with less packaging, re-use more items, take my own bags for shopping, transfer electric bill to wind/hydro-power.
107. Attend at least 6 live music events: Colin Meloy, Feist, Death Cab for Cutie, Feist (again,) Jonas Brothers, Stars, Elizabeth & The Catapult, Mates of State, Decemberists...
108. Make my 109 Things to Do in 2009 list (OMG, where are the years going??)
