I love sports. I have always loved sports.. but man, sometimes I really hate athletes. I read today on espn that the some of the NBA players chosen to represent our country at the Olympics this summer in Athens, Greece are choosing not to participate. Since when is the opportunity to represent your country at the most prestigious international tournament in the world something that you should be able to commit to and then just pull out because you don't feel like doing it?!? Tons of people train their whole lives for spots on the Olympic teams because that is the most prestigious competition in their sport. Sure, the Olympics aren't as financially lucrative for the NBA players but it's not like they need the money anyway with their gargantuan regular season salaries and endorsements. What a crock of shit that they are selected to represent our country and then choose not to do so. Injuries are one thing, but making a conscious decision not to go just sickens me.
