First, I'll rec some films. I'm not a big film buff either. But these are my favorites, so if you haven't seen any of these, you need to: "Clue" and "Ghostbusters" (best comedies ever!), "The Neverending Story" and "Labyrinth" (the Golden Age of fantasy films!), "The Princess Bride", "Dead Poets' Society", "The Three Musketeers" (yes, the Disney version).
Now, as for books, I'll rec you a few, but I don't know what kind of books you're into! Let me know what you like, and I'll see what else I can come up with.
First, I love Margaret Atwood! The Handmaid's Tale is probably her most famous book, but Alias Grace and Oryx and Crake are my favorites.
House of Leaves, by Mark Danielewski is a complicated, intense book, but it's very good and really compelling!
Anything by Neil Gaiman...
Have you ever heard of this book called The Da Vinci Code? (No, kidding! Though I was entertained by it, at least.)
For non-fiction, try Mary Roach; she wrote Stiff: the Curious Life of Human Cadavers, Spook: a Scientist Examines the Afterlife, and Bonk: the Curious Coupling of Science and Sex. All three great reads!
That's it for now. Tell me what you're looking for!
