Promotion and Merlin Meme
I am currently enjoying the Sherlock land comm and have been trying to find others to join and caseland is right up my street, it stands for almost every Cop and Forensic show from all countries and I found it via a pimp in a Sherlock community - yes, that counts as well! Day Four - Favourite Scene
My favourite scene is from Excalibur, when Merlin is getting ready to prep Arthur for the fight and Uther walks in. There is so little said in the scene but it just sticks with me, esspecially at the end when Uther tells Merlin to "look after him" (Arthur), it had been hard to see Uther as anything other than a brutal tyrant throughout the series but at this point you got to see the love he had for his son and I think that the understatedness of the scene was what made it work so well. There was no rushing about, the movements all seemed calculated and there was no huge music swelling in the background (though I do love Merlin music, I got the first season soundtrack earlier this week and I'm addicted to The Witch's Aria) and the scene hung on the lines and the acting ability and, whilst Colin did well, ASH was fully able to play this side to Uther, the defeated man who knows (well, thinks at that point) that he won't make it out of battle but still has enough honor in him that he will go out fighting, and that he will spend his last moments saving the son, the same son who thinks he is such a dissapointment to his father.
Just an amazing scene, plus it put Merlin/Uther thoughts into my head - don't shoot me people but come on, he was dressing the guy and it was sweet! I do want to read Uther/Merlin fic but I can't find any that is concensual and isn't dub-con and that I don't want to read so :(
