It was good Friday.
Wait.
Microsoft Word tells me it has to be
Good Friday
Thank you software.
Erin says it was called God Friday and morphed
One of my journal friends called it Happy Jesus on a stick day.
We unofficially decided to celebrate. Next year it will be our new tradition. Mary and I went out into the garage to listen to the Violent Femmes “Jesus Walking on the Water”. We listened to a few others on the disk and danced around like we were speaking tongues, but with ever so slightly more rhythm. I realized from this that the only dance styles I know are seriously outdated (pre my era) but they are very fun. I had a splendid time standing in the open one car garage with the boom box on the top of a ladder plugged into the light socket dancing in circles with the dog while the tornado like gusts of wind howled and shook the building. When the pizza man arrived we met up with her majesty our housemate and watched the oh so dramatic season one finale and season two opening of West Wing.
The next morning I treated myself to some yoga and was the odd one out with granola and cereal with fruit instead of pancakes. Yummmm. Don’t think me some sort of martyr for an undeclared cause; Mary and the Queen were going to be baking sweet treats for the royal family all day and this involves licked spoons and chunks of peanut butter crème. We talked about politics, roaring and whimpering. This is dangerous as Mary and I both work for government funded non profit organizations and are democrats and her majesty is a serious Bush supporting Republican who does things like call our clients ‘retards’ just to get a rise out of Mary. It was actually a lot of fun. I did homework all day in between verbal battles and tastey samples. It was a very good day. Despite the foreknowledge that I had to work that night.
This morning, upon returning home from work I played piano, exercised and did homework while Mary and The Queen did their housekeeping. We then watched the season finale of Dexter, mumbling comments about predictability, followed by grunted complaints about the second season not being available to us. We then slept as I tend to need to do after a night at work and quite coincidentally with the traditions of the Religious Holiday prepared a ham for dinner with potatoes and snap peas (one of my favorite of the green veggies). After eating we all talked and digested, Mary Lee and I, the ham dinner, the Queen, one of the treats she calls bagels because they have cream cheese in them and it makes them sound healthier. Her brownness, miss Cocoa, took this opportunity to jump her 60 lb canine self onto the kitchen counter and eat the large end cut of our ham.
Good girl.
good weekend.
Now, I have to go to work.
well, you win some you lose some.
