The new senior accountant is quitting Thanksgiving week. That leaves me as the sole permanent senior. The third senior position is still being handled by a temp. I really liked the girl who is quitting, too. She was totally thrown into the fire without decent training, dealing with software just about everyone is having a hard time with. She told me she didn't sign on for such a stressful job.

So now we have three positions open in our department. I wouldn't be surprised if my manager quit at some point, making four open positions. I don't blame her. Who wants a job that makes you cry? Life is too short for that crap.

It's still a weird feeling that all this turmoil is going on around me, and I'm not directly involved in any of it. I'm just ridin' out the storm, once again.

Also, I was searching for old emails related to our parking garage fees, and dug up a nasty ol' email from my former boss "Peckerhead". I had emailed him on a Halloween afternoon, informing him I was leaving about half an hour early to get our monthly parking tax returns to the post office to avoid late fees, and beat the Halloween traffic home. The email I found was his reply, berating me for communicating with him that way and daring to leave the office. Well, if I remember correctly, he was in a meeting and unavailable, and fuck him anyway. He was one of those "I am the king and you are my serfs. Do my bidding, no matter if it's wrong or will cost the company money". I hear it's a cultural thing. He certainly did not appreciate my independent streak, or my willingness to give my two cents' worth of input. This is the same guy who called me into his office regarding some other email he didn't like, and commanded me to shut the door, to which I told him I was definitely NOT shutting the door, and he needed to stop wasting my time calling me into his office over minor bullshit all the time. Then I stalked out, expecting to be fired. Instead, he stopped calling me into his office, and eventually left the company. Ah, good times.

And now I've got a boss who pulls me aside and says "don't you dare leave!". Hmm.
