Things were happening awful quickly, now, the two weeks were going by too fast, Remy was doing too much. Little things, like going down to the pier with Ryan and Jaques, trying to experience everything he was too timid to know before. Everything he wouldn't ever get to do again, at least not in the same way.
There was one more thing, though, that he knew needed to be done.
Looking back on the wedding, Remy had quite mixed emotions attatched to the reception. He'd enjoyed himself for the most part, but for the fiasco surrounding Sascha. Remy's empathy had been strong since he was a child, he knew strong emotions when he saw them, and he knew that most of the pack disliked Sascha on some principle that Remy himself didn't entirely understand.
But Sascha had been the first to show Remy that he could be his own person, that the little things that made him up were each imporant. That there was more to him than timid Remy, scared to get close to anyone for fear of losing them. There was more there, and Sascha had dug around inside until he found it. And maybe he'd exploited it a little, but Remy was hardly bothered by that. Remy had a lot of strange skeletons in his closet, and as he spent his final days curled up in the sun with Ryan, he began to sift through them, show them the light. Release his pain and fear. He had to be stronger than his past. He had to overcome. He was going to be strong, and he was going to make everyone proud.
And that included Sascha.
Remy lived in the same building as Sascha, now, or at least he had for a while. Not for long, he was going to be moving into Eden's home permanantly after his Embrace. But for now, he had the apartment. Ryan's apartment, their apartment. And Sascha was in the building, while Ryan was playing with Remy's hair while Remy drew in a patch of sunlight on the floor.
Remy woke up from a light nap one evening, gave Ryan a long and lingering kiss, and then told him he had to go out for a while, maybe a few hours. He promised he'd be back as soon as he could, told Ryan to work while Remy was gone, hoping Ryan would get something accomplished without Remy bothering him for cuddles and kisses.
He dressed simply, not bothering with long sleeves or scarves. He wasn't leaving the building.
Remy took the stairs instead of the elevator, two flights down, and then up a short hallway. He recognized the hallway even though it was just the same as the rest of the building. There was something about this walk that just screamed Sascha to Remy's senses, and he stopped at Sascha's door as naturally as anything.
He reminded himself that these two weeks were his to do with what he wanted, and that he wouldn't get in trouble for coming to see Sascha, and furthermore he didn't have to keep it a secret anymore. Eden knew now, and while he'd seemed angry, it hadn't come up again.
And Remy was almost his own man, and Eden wouldn't care after that.
Remy knocked on the door.
