Julien finished cleaning his brushes, taking the time to lay them out flat so they'd dry in the right shapes, and then he turned out the light and locked his studio behind him. He walked barefoot down the little garden path that led to the main house - their cottage - and paused to turn around and take in the beauty of the landscaping. It had been the roses, in part, that had won them over to the property - gorgeous, night-blooming primroses and blood roses, and a selection of other exotic hybrids. The previous owners had been avid gardeners, and Julien had no problem convincing Ryan to take on the responsibility as landscaper, especially when he told him what he would be willing to pay.
Julien took another breath, swearing that he could still smell the sun in the air, and then he turned and headed silently into the house, to find Eden.
It wasn't difficult; Eden was where Julien had left him, working in his study. He knocked softly upon the door, leaning in against the frame with a little smile. Sometimes Eden's beauty shocked him still, and tonight was no exception. Julien broke into a slow smile, tucking his hands into the front pockets of his jeans and sauntering forward. "Good evening, Mister Frost. How is your writing coming tonight?" He dropped himself into Eden's lap, one hand sliding into his hair.
"I was wondering if maybe you'd like to join in a little game?"
