Totally off topic, I just wanted to say that one link led to another and I ended up reading one of your fanfic stories (for a show I only barely watch... and I've never really read fanfic before...) and it is breathtakingly good. Good story, beautiful writing, intense plotting. Thank you for writing--and for sharing.

Hey, the topic is always Me!Me!Me! so you can't be off-topic. :-) Thank you very much for the sweet words. I'm not going to say where my fic falls in the spectrum -- about the only objective thing I can say about it is that I write long stuff, no one argues that -- but fanfic will suck you in and eat your brain. It doesn't matter if you've only seen two episodes of a show and didn't even like it. There's some stellar stuff, but it's like mining for gold. The big nuggets are few and far between.

That said, it's free, it's fun, and I've been reading tons of published fiction the last two months because I've been depressed and the ratio of good to bad seems about the same.
