The What's in Rodney's Bathroom Distraction

May 28, 2008 20:33

I'll break it down into couple of different questions. Answer seriously or in fun.

What's in Rodney's bathroom in Atlantis?

What's in Rodney's bathroom at his apartment on Earth?

What does Rodney leave in John's bathroom?

Bonus question:

What does John keep in Rodney's bathroom in Atlantis or back on Earth?

What's in Rodney's bathroom in Atlantis?Tube of toothpaste left on the sink (with toothpaste smears) that's lost the cap. A very ratty toothbrush that hasn't been replaced in a year. An overflowing magazine/book rack, because for efficiency's sake he does certain kinds of reading (journals, et al) on the toilet. In Atlantis, any low priority gets reviewed here, and he'll often have a spare tablet in there for the same reason ( ... )

Not sure I want to visit your bathroom. Orange?

Not that I'm inviting anyone into my bathroom. Nope. No how. Someone might want to know why there was dishsoap in there.

I'm sad and touched by the idea of Rodney being a sucker for hair loss preventatives.

Um, yeah, I noticed that yesterday and thought I should clean it someday.

Someone might want to know why there was dishsoap in there.

Why is there dishsoap? Not that I haven't had stranger things that are not-orange even.

I'm sad and touched by the idea of Rodney being a sucker for hair loss preventatives.

He also says that he'll make a mint on earth if he finds one that works.

The truth is I don't know why there is dishsoap in the bathroom. I noticed it earlier, hiding behind the laundry soap. (That's there because Mom decided to fill all the soap pumps with liquid detergent. Never mind it's bright blue. I'm just grateful she didn't decide to use the oil for the emergency lamps - which is also deep blue.)

Rodney would make a fortune if he ever finds something that gives everyone hair like Sheppard's, even if the cowlicks come with it. That there is some pretty hair.

See, now, that's the sort of thing we need. The stuff that doesn't make sense. What do I have in my bathroom that at first glance would seem strange (besides orange corners).

Hmm. Socks.

Rodney buys his socks on Earth. It's very important to get the right blend of wool. His feet are delicate and those military boots are hell on them. His socks are fabulous and they keep disappearing from the laundry. So now he washes them out by hand in the sink and hangs them in the shower to dry.

What he doesn't know is that it's John and Ronon who are stealing his socks. John after snagging a pair accidentally one morning and Ronon after seeing John furtively hiding them from Rodney and wondering why, only to discover how great they are.

Teyla has told them to just ask Rodney where he gets his socks, but that would mean admitting they really are that great.

Socks and the suntan lotion.

And if John admits he likes Rodney's skin cream (the good stuff for his face) he will have to eat his words.

There are rubberbands and hair-ties hanging off of every doorknob. Then there's the jug of bleach by the tub. Stuff like that. Hmm. The hair-ties are because wildernessguru has long hair.

Rodney would make a fortune if he ever finds something that gives everyone hair like Sheppard's, even if the cowlicks come with it. That there is some pretty hair.

Rodney would settle for an inch less forehead. He's not asking for much. And think, all the so-called modern medical miracles are from the rainforests. It's highly likely that Pegasus has something Earth doesn't.

What does John keep in Rodney's bathroom in Atlantis or back on Earth?Clean towels. John grew up a little more civilized than Rodney and while he got used to not having hand towels in the military, Rodney picked north-facing quarters, so somehow, his bathroom is always dank and Rodney's towels don't quite dry. And Rodney, not being used to guests, generally has a towel, singular. He always realizes this at the last minute and apologizes, but John would rather have a clean, dry towel than the apology ( ... )

I knew this was going to bring out the good answers. That kind of detail really rounds out the characters into more than heroic cut-outs on the screen.

You can't steal your own ideas. But yes, this can be like a bathroom contents resource post for anyone and everyone.
