Tomorrow is my birthday. Now, I could write about all the things that have changed this year, or about how much hasn't changed, or about how old I feel, or about how young I feel...but I think I'll use this post in a more utilitarian fashion.
October is a great time to have a birthday. The weather is the best (it's only rained 3 or 4 times on my birthday in all 27 years). It's also far enough out from Christmas so that nobody tries to call one gift sufficient for both. In fact, I remember being a kid and getting cash from various family members. I would then spend some of it on myself, but I'd sit on most of it until it came time to buy Christmas presents for everybody else. I was a pretty generous kid, I guess. But enough prelude.
People have been asking me, "What do you want for your birthday?" This post is probably too late to help most of them, but about this time of year people start asking, "What do you want for Christmas?" too. So, I figured I'd throw together a list. I'll try to add to it and update it as time passes.
Wish-list (In no particular order):
Cash, or things that spend like cash (gift cards for Walmart, Best-Buy, Hastings, Lowe's, Home Depot, any restaurant, etc.)
iTunes cards
X-box360 controller (wired or wireless doesn't matter)
DVDs (almost any Disney animated feature, chick flicks, action/adventure, classics, etc.)
CDs (if you know what I like)
Hebrew Bible (a good version would be Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia
More Light on the Path: Daily Scripture Readings in Hebrew and Greek by Baker, Heath, and Baker
A Concise Hebrew and Aramaic Lexicon of the Old Testament edited by William Lee Holladay
book shelves
A Reader's Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament by Sakae Kubo
one of those big plastic outdoor storage bins
wrinkle-free dress shirts (18" neck, 33" sleeve) (french cuffs would be cool)
cuff-links (avoid gold and things pretending to be gold)
circular saw
movie passes (Carmike preferably)
Toyota Prius
ok, I've killed too much time on this.

birthday
