DAY @@ and @#

Ignorance and Hate. That's what upsets me.

The other day in English class, we watched a movie about segregation and the Civil Rights Movement. The movie showed so many awful things, I could barely speak afterwards. It's hard to believe that that was only a few decades ago. And yet, human as we are, we're falling back into our old ways. We discriminate nowadays, and it hurts me on the inside. We Americans are discriminating against gays and muslims, and it just seems normal. Well I say, this behavior should never be acceptable. Everyone should be able to believe what they want to, and love who they want to. And I find it hilarious how people make such a huge fuss out of such little differences when we humans have been through this vicious cycle so many times. We hate, discriminate, people get hurt until finally someone gets the courage to stand up for what is right. And after years of controversy and deceit, we leave well enough alone until we decide to find someone else to pick on. It'll never end.
So many people believe that world peace is acheivable. Well, in my own beliefs, it isn't. It really isn't. People will always be on different sides of the spectrum, there will always be bad people and there will always be a small percentage that are unwilling to work towards a great common goal: love and peace. And it's a sad day when a 15-year-old girl realizes that there are no fixes for this world. It's a sad day when she realizes that maybe she can't matter as much as she wished she could. Well, maybe I can't change the world. Maybe I can't do anything at all besides watch it fall apart, but as long as I'm alive I will give it a damned try. I will try for love, knowing that 9 out of 10 times it will never work. I will try for love, knowing that when I leave this world, most people will forget about me. But if I can show love to one person, then it has all been worth it. Then life has mattered. and maybe if we all take this pledge, then someday hate and ignorance will be less prevalent in the world. Isn't worth a try?
