i think it goes without saying things continue to be busy.
casting came and went. it was pretty successful, except it seems like everytime we cast someone, another actor has to drop out for some reason. i've taken, like, 3 cast photos, and none are the same. SOOOOOOOO frustrating. but we're already in rehearsal. tiffany and i are really starting to connect, and memorization is moving along (for the first two acts, at least). we are supposed to be doing it so all the women are men, but really what we're trying to do is make it so you look at the actors as people, not as men or women.
i've had a great month, really. pakistan and i went to a dc united game, which was a ton of fun. i really only like soccer if i'm there in person. plus, the old rfk stadium lower seating (like the first 10 rows) are bouncy!!! it was like a ride and a soccer game!
va and i spent some time hanging out. i think we bonded over the caps, but he clearly is working some other angle. it's almost comical. he doesn't like knowing i have other toys on the side, but refuses to admit he has them. i know he does, and i honestly don't care except it means i see him less. which wouldn't be such a bother if it weren't for the fact that annapolis is only reliable for the weekend, and youngblood is as predictable as a manic's mood swings. (that is to say, you don't know when they're coming, but you know they will)
i've taken to running. i'll do about 3 miles 4 days a week. it's not completely reliable, but i've found as long as i bring my sneakers with me, and wear my sports bra i'll jog from pretty much anywhere to anywhere. i also discovered that a chop't salad sandwich with roasted red potatoes is just about the most delicious thing in the world.
i also have been a music maven. i won tickets to the dc 101 chili cookoff, which it turns out IS a chili cookoff, but also an amazing concert! i brought matt with me with my extra ticket, because he is taking me to NINJA next month, which is awesome. we were out drinking till, like, 4am the day before. it was totally ridiculous, and we woke up late, which meant we got moving late. we missed the local band, and red jumpsuit apparatus, but we got there in time for three says grace and shinedown. then it rained a million buckets. rob and his friend went to hide under a tent while mike and i got water and icecream. the rain continued, i talked the boys into doing pepper shots. we found a fire extinguisher and had fun with that. then we got mre beer. then third eye blind rocked my pants. and finally, the offspring. matt, mike, rob and i had an awesome time breaking everything in pit, and all in all, it was an awesome night. mike was too tired and pussied out on me bygoing home, but youngblood pulled through and came by to keep me company while i packed for boston.
boston was awesome. seeing my dad and brother was awesome. seeing my sister graduate was super awesome. we went to a not so awesome italian restaurant, planned our trip to europe, got drinks, played trivia. i can't think of a single moment i didn't love except the one where we got a phone call about gramma being sick and the one where we all had to leave. those sucked.
they think gramma has lukemia. they did a preliminary test and it came back negative, so now they don't really know what's wrong. daddy and gramma still think it's cancer, but i am hoping to god it's not true.
memorial day was hilarious and wonderful. cj and christina had a bbq that a bunch of us showed up to. i was able to come because some of my students canceled their lessons, and then i hopped out to annapolis for rum and go carting around his golf course.
monday i started margarita mondays with dave, a friend i made from karaoke at sollys. it is an awesome tradition and i think i love it. except for the having to go to work part, eventually.
throw in some more karaoke last night, some general life confusion and frustration, a marketing deadline for the fringe, a bunch of new friends, and the makings of a cold, and you've got the month of may.
