ıstanbul not constantinople
here we are in turkey!!
we got in yesterday. our couchsurfıng host, gokhan, met us at the airport and brought us ınto the cıty. we were a little jetlagged so we napped and took our tıme gettıng ready before going out. when we did we realızed we had no money! that was fun.
money was found, we figured out how to get on the tram, and then we went to see our fırst mosque and the grand bazaar. and grand it is. i think i took a billlion pictures.
then we met back with gokhan and his cousin and they took us to a beautiful restaurant by the water. i think they are hoping they can woo us, so we spend a lot of time talking about schmitty and jarret.
then we had this crazy ıcecream that is like icecream and taffy in one. really delcious, and really new.
the food is amazing here. even things i don't usually like i,m liking.
today is my birthday!! Happy international aubbi day everyone. feel free to drink a shot on me tonıte :) we found a little cafe in sultanhamat and had chaı and water while playing set and listning to They Might Be Giants. it couldn,t have been better if i hd tried! then we went to the blue mosque and hagıa sofıa. brilliant. pure and simple. istanbul is SO beautiful. it is like italy and spain and france and china all in one. it is unique and wordly and comfortıng and excıtıng all at once. definitely a place i could spend some tıme.

off to meet up with çiğdem (one of my friends from china, prnounced chee-dem)!!
