i went to see 300 yesterday.
rick was concerned about the racist undertones of the movie, and while i can see them...i can't help but think it's just a comic book movie. maybe if i was still in oberlin, or if everyone had been chinese. i guess in the end it's greek men versus every other race on the earth.
it was interesting how much it was like watching a video game. i mean, cinematography aside, the fight scenes were very action gamey. you see big bloody stab wounds, and blood spatters flying around, but there are no wounds on the fallen, no spilled blood on the ground, or victims or anywhere really. all the gore just disappeared. so, in the end, for such a gorey movie (minus a few flying decapatated heads) it was suprisingly clean. i think i saw far worse things in braveheart and apocolypto.
so, good times at the movies - by myself of course, because no one is about for a movie at 3pm.
i was gonna go see helena afterwards, but people's life criseses and my falling asleep because i'm always exhausted prevented that from happening.
had a not too terrible shift at work this morning, mailed out a bunch of stuff, came home, fell asleep and promptly slept thru my cross training for tpr. i don't know how i'm going to explain this.
i'm still tired. should go to sleep so i can go out with helena tonight. athf:mftt with rick tomorrow.
life is slightly less sucky

also, talked with dr.s today. apparently my iron/anemia/whatever levels are so so so bad. as in she had me on the phone for 10 minutes telling me how my iron is supposed to be anywhere from 10 to 150 and instead it was 1, and my hemoglobin was supposed to be 40 to 100 and it was 17. all to say it's painfully, dangerously low, and it's lower than it was 4 months ago.
so, once again she recommends the incredibly expensive iron supplements. i'm thinking i'll take the far less expensive iron pills otc, and i guess...just live with tummy aches and feeling heavy and bloated.

*sigh* this makes the whole concept of quitting and not having healthcare a bit more difficult.

movie, starbucks, work, healthcare, medicine, tpr, 300
