Frightened Rabbit / Concert

Well, after five lovely days in New York City I knew going back to work wasn't going to be particularly awesome. But I didn't expect it to suck so hard. Ugh, but it did. So I was really looking forward to Thursday night becauseohloveme  and I had tickets for the Frightened Rabbit show in Newport, Ky. And Frightened Rabbit usually makes me quite happy...

The show, some downloads, pictures, and a really awesome video under here!

OMG, the crowd was awful. A mix of drunk frat boy types and even drunker faux hipsters. This horrible couple in front of me wouldn't stop dirty dancing and bumping all over me. The girl kept swinging her camera around on it's strap and whacking me. And the smoking! I'm so used to non-smoking venues that being stuck with hundreds of people blowing smoke in my face was a bit of a shock. I got some good photos but mostly because I used my camera as a weapon!

At least the music was good. The sound was a little fuzzy but Scott Hutchison sang beautifully and seemed really energetic. The show was sold out, so maybe all the negative crowd energy looked different from the other side of the stage. They played 'Skip the Youth' first, which is one of my favorite songs from the new album (and inspired this fanmix). 'The Modern Leper'/'Old Old Fashioned'/'Head Rolls Off' were highlights from the last album, though I missed 'Fast Blood' and 'I Feel Better.' Scott also attempted to sing 'Poke' accoustically but the douchebags all around me decided to sing along in their whisky tango, out of tune, and generally horrible voices.

And then they played 'Living in Color' which is maybe my favorite song from "Winter of Mixed Drinks".  Scott told us they were filming live footage for the music video and people totally lost their shit. But not in a good way. There was crowd surfing and very violent drunk people elbowing their way towards the front. I just kept my elbows up and tried not to look too scared for the camera.

Ugh but enough venting! I still love Frightened Rabbit, especially their first album "Midnight Organ Fight" so here are some downloads!

'Things'
'Skip the Youth'
'Living in Color'
"Midnight Organ Fight" full album

More photos here, plus a video! 'Nothing Like You' is totally adorable and apparently filmed in Scott's basement :)
