Buddha's Birthday!
May 24, 2007 was Buddha's 2551 Birthday and it is a National Holiday in Korea so we have no classes. We were supposed to go to a bookstore but my companions invited us to go to a Buddhist Temple. There was so many people on the way to Beomosa Temple (one of the most famous temples in Busan) that it took as an hour from the bus stop to the temple gate. The ride was supposed to last only around 5 to 10 minutes but there were so many cars that the traffic was so slow.
The temple entrance is so beautiful and along the way, there were a lot of lanterns. There were more lanterns and lotus flowers inside the temple compound. I just looked around and observed the rituals of Buddhism. We were able to take a picture with the monks.
The bear's name is STYX and these are some of the lanterns lining the path going to Beomosa Temple.
