Hey, guys. Sorry that I've been MIA for a while. I joined that community
forks_high and have been busy with that. I recommend it to anyone with a little spare time. It can be a lot of fun.
Which, on that note, if anyone has any red-haired Kirsten Dunst icons they can spare, I'd love you forever. There are so few pretty ones with just her!
Anyway... Let's see. As I've said before, I work as a Candy Striper at one of the local hospitals in the Surgery Waiting room. Well, when I got to work yesterday, about half of my church was in the waiting room! It was so random. I knew that one of the members (whose family is very influential in the church) was having cancer surgery but never thought it'd be at my hospital, let alone my particular floor. I spent some time with Chelsea and Ellen who were hilarious and kept me laughing when I wasn't busy.
A lot of drama happened yesterday during my volunteer time. Since there were so many friends and family from our church, it got a teensy bit loud in there. So much so that this one lady started yelling at my fellow church members. Long story short, she got so out of control (yelling in the face of one particular person, who is the sweetest old man and who's wife was having the cancer surgery) that I had to call security! It was so stressful for me. And it didn't help that I was working with the two most irresponsible old volunteers ever. One was this old man who was so deaf he couldn't hear anything so he took on taking the patients everywhere and the other volunteer was a kooky old lady who was always leaving me alone to make fresh pots of coffee every couple of minutes. Literally. She'd dump out a seven-minute-old, full pot to make more.
So if you can picture it, there I was juggling two constantly ringing phones, paging in multiple families, talking to nurses and surgeons, and the security guard. Gosh.
So, it was a stressful day. Unfortunately, the news that my church was waiting for was bad. I left before I could find out exactly what happened, but everyone was crying. I'll have to wait a bit before I get the rest of the news but I have a pretty good idea.
Well, gang. I'm off. Talk to you later!
