I only have (check it out) ONE more day left until I am officially out for the summer. It's a bit bittersweet. It will be the end of my junior year and the end of the line for a lot of my senior friends. I will be a senior, people. Can you believe? I can't, that's for sure.
So, my exams that I had to take today were killer. Chemistry and Spanish. Need I say more? They truly were the most grueling tests. I'm just hoping that I was able to pass; I've thrown out that idealistic "A" a long time ago.
But afterward, Haley and I (along with my mother, oddly enough) went out to lunch before doing a bit of shopping. It was kind of boring until Haley and I found the makeup counter with all these new colors out. I swear I looked like a hooker leaving the department store, I put on so much.
However on the drive home, I kept hearing this weird thumping sound. I frowned and turned down my music but since I couldn't really tell where it was coming from, I ignored it. When I got home and got out of the car, I hear this "wheeeeeeeeeeesh"-ing sound. I followed the noise to my back driver side tire. It's got a hole in it! I called my mother and she said that she'd make sure that someone changed it tonight so hopefully I'll still be able to drive my lovely car to school tomorrow. *Fingers crossed!*
On a different note, it seems to me like the whole town is going wonky. The electricity at the house has been flickering, the high speed internet is fading out, the phones are cutting off callers. Not just at my home, either. It was like that at the school, a bunch of people were saying it was like that at their houses... It's like in that movie The Terminator! How scary. Or, possibly, it could be that bad weather that's a couple miles to the west of us messing with our power lines. Who knows?
Anyway... I turned in my book that I had to write for my English class. For me to have stressed about it so much, I did really well on it. My teacher even read it out loud to the class! Which, on one hand, really embarrassing, and on the other, yay! And just so everyone can know what it looked like here's my little overview of it.

Okay, so the first page was the title page and it said:
What I Learned
By: Brittney Robertson
-Mark Twain
1 - In grade one, I learned how to fish from the greatest teacher in the world, my grandfather. Those summers at the pond taught me patience and how to take defeat after losing "The Big One."
Art - A boat on a peaceful lake scene with a fishing rod hanging out the back.
2 - In grade two, I learned how to paint. I learned that paint on cement driveway is forever. This experience taught me how to clean up my own mess, in more ways than one.
Art - A tipped over paint can with red paint splatters and drawings on the ground.
3 - (from now on, no "In grade three, -", you'll just have to remember) I learned the Girl Scout pledge. That year taught me discipline and what a good work ethic means. I also learned how not to suffocate in the Cookie costume.
Art - The GS pledge written off to one side, a photo of about 20 of us in GS, and a drawing of someone wearing the Cookie costume.
4 - I learned that kindness counts. Out of the blue acts of kindness can be the most uplifting part of your day. Getting a nice note when you're feeling down; your best friend letting you borrow her favorite tutu for Halloween; your mom getting up extra early to make you your favorite breakfast on exam day -- are all things that can instantly make your day better.
Art - A blue flower and a bumble bee.
5 - I learned to love to read. This was the I received Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. After this, I truly became an "avid" reader.
Art - An open book with a quote (In books, I meet the dead as if they are alive. In books I see what is yet to come. All things decay and pass with time... All things would fall victim to oblivion if God had not given man the ability of books...) And a bookshelf that REALLY took too long to draw.
6 - I learned the art of telling ghost stories during our Sixth Grade camping trip. I learned that it is possible to fit twelve 11-year-olds in one canoe and it still float. (Also there were a couple of lines from a ghost story Emilie and I made up, but it's too long... so ha!)
Art - A campfire.
7 - I learned that though beauty is in the eye of the beholder, one should always look their best. Makeup can enhance natural beauty but without self-confidence, you'll never reach outer beauty as well as inner.
Art - A pink vanity with bottles and brushes on it.
8 - I learned my mother's "secret" recipe for chocolate dessert. Ingredients can be tricky and just because something tastes like what you're looking for doesn't mean it will actually be a good substitute. Everyone makes mistakes but it's probably best not to mess up Thanksgiving dinner.
Art - The chocolate dessert, side-view.
9 - I learned from Derek that life is short. Tragedy can bring a whole school together and with a few simple words, what is said can express the pain of losing one of your own.
Art - A T-shirt design that our school made when one of our guys died in a car crash. He was seventeen years old and would have probably walked away from the scene if he'd been wearing his seat belt. The shirt said "One heartbeat... in memory of Derek." With a red heart in the center.
10 - I learned how to drive with the wheel in one hand, a Starbucks coffee in the other and a cell phone caught between my ear and shoulder. I soon discovered how to get coffee stains out of my car's upholstery. Yellow means stop, not slow down.
Art - What else? A Starbucks coffee! My personal favorite.
11 - I learned that there are highs and lows to being a procrastinator. I learned how to study for an AP History test, write an English paper and do a Chemistry worksheet all in one night.
I found out how stress can be a good motivator. I learned that the "big" moments like Jr./Sr. banquet can be overrated but it's the little things that make it worthwhile. I realized how much I love my friends and that I'm really going to miss them when we all move on from this place. I know now to savor each silly moment so I can get through the hard ones.
Art - A clock with this quote written underneath : Time is like a wheel... turning, turning, never stopping.
Phew! That took a while to type! Anyway, there was an Acknowledgments page and an About the Author page, but I'm just too tired to type anymore! Haha. Well, love to stay and chat some more but my exams aren't done yet!
