I thought that braving it through multiple heat waves with no air conditioning or fans (other than the one by my bed, thank you, mummy, for buying it for me for my birthday) and occasionally walking in 95+ degree weather (also plus humidity), but I discovered something OH so much worse:
Tonight marked our second show in a 24 hour period in clubs with zero air conditioning.
Don't get me wrong - we had a most excellently wonderful time, but I was seriously questioning my ability to remain upright towards the end of our second set. Wow. I didn't sweat that much in gym class in high school!
15th St. Pub here in Vancouver was wonderful. We were 2nd of three bands, and the only musicians performing that were over 21. The first band (... The Shivas, I think?) had a ten year oldish drummer, in fact! I can't for the life of me remember the name of the third band, but love that when asked what genre of music they play, they replied "Loud." Indeed they were - I could feel my hearing dying during their set. Not for lack of playing - I thought they were great fun with their Testament-esque music - but the loudness! Wow. Coworker Lorena showed up with her twin sister, Lyssandra. We're also thankful for The 15th Street for allowing us to play and certainly hope to be able to do so again.
Tonight was at The Satyricon in downtown Portland, our second show there, and our second show with Big Time Entertainment. The first show with them had been a tremendous leap forward for contacts and networking and EXPERIENCE, and we mentioned it to Ryan, the Big Time Rep that was there. Apparently Joel showed up to the office after our first show, waving our cd around and beaming about how wonderful we were and how happy he was that we followed their advice for promotion and merching. I'm happy to report that our cd is now hanging on their office WALL. Yay!
Maybe we'll get the rep of being the nicest band in Portland? That would be fun. GROUP HUG.
There was a slight snafu when we took the stage... and realized that Ben's guitar had been left at 15th Street Pub.... um, eek? The sound guy saved the day by finding a random guitar for Ben to play.
I also got my hairs cut today and joined the gym.
I need an icon for exhaustion that would also double as a "melting" one when it's horridly hot.
