mayatawi wrote me an absolutely incredible fic for
winter_deaddrop, which for those of you who don't know was the Burn Notice holiday gift exchange. (I asked for a Burn Notice/Casino Royale crossover, pairing Michael Westen and James Bond, because that pairing struck me as having the potential to be really fucking hot if done right -- and ohmygod did she do it right.) This story is very much everything that I was hoping for.
I don't even know where to start, except by saying that it rendered me incoherent the first time (and second time) I read it. It's in character, there's a fantastic misunderstanding and moment of revelation, and the way she wove the story into the opening of Casino Royale was inspired. It's also incredibly hot. There are so many good things about this story. One thing that I liked so much about Casino Royale was the darker take on Bond -- he's a killer, and he knows it, and
mayatawi gets that just right. So go -- read the story. It is made of win.
